Will the coating cover the wood grain when painting cabinets?
For the most part the answer is no. It may fill in to some degree but the grain of the wood will still be visible.
Wood grain can be filled with a filler before primer and subsequent coats to ensure a smooth finish.
What sheen is used for the coating of cabinets?
A Matte or Satin sheen with Satin being the most common as it is more durable and longer lasting.
What is the process for painting cabinets?
Day 1: Remove doors, poly kitchen area as well as cabinets. May start to prep cabinets and doors for painting.
Day 2: Paper the floor and finishing sanding etc, for the prep work. Painting might commence.
Day 3: Paint
Day 4: Paint
Day 5: Paint ... may start to clean up and install doors
Day 6: Typically installing doors and finishing job
NOTE: There is a smell involved with this process.
Do I need to empty the cupboards?
Emptying the cupboards is not necessary as there will be poly to protect the contents. Thus saying you will not have access to your items behind the poly.
What colours do you use?
We use a varity of colours from different manufacturers.
When you decide on a colour that is offered by the paint supplier, we can paint it. Choose the paint colour and let us know the code and supplier.
